I have been working on this piece for the most part of a year but I admit I did get side tracked by the bird man, Alan Woollett, for his week long workshop; which by the way was fabulous, I made new friends from different areas plus had a ball!! Sorry Alan i still haven't finished "the bird", but I will!!!

I wanted to share some pictures of River Roses in progress and will be completed by Christmas. The painting is 11" X 17", on Stonehenge smooth paper, Prismacolor, Pablo, Polycromos and Luminance pencils. Hope you enjoy and the final picture will be posted by Christmas. By the way I have been told I never do anything simple!!!!

I finished this right before Christmas finishing it by using white gouache and a white gel pen to get the extreme highlights. I really love this piece because it has a story that leaves the viewer to walk upon the roses thrown in  the river and make their own story as to why?

The reference photo is used by permission from my daughter, Tisha Clinkenbeard. Thank you Tisha for believing in me! Love you.

I have a limited edition glicees of RIVER ROSES for sale for $40. Image size is 10.75" x 15.75".

This is a kit found on Ann Kullberg website that I thought was interesting. It is done on a 5 X 7 Ampersand board I have to say i really liked the rough texture of the Ampersand and I finished in time to give as a Christmas present last year! I used Prismacolor pencils on this work.

I personally believe we must stretch our comfort zone in order to grow. I will show you another panting of mine that pushed me out of my zone again! With "Three Orchids" I worked on 800 grit UART paper although it did present challenges because I really did not know HOW to work on it I pushed forward!! I used Prismacolor pencils and Derwent Art Sticks and as I have said before I have a love/hate relationship with my work until the last mark is on and I have signed my name.
