Treasures

I wanted to share my plein air treasures with all of you. They are approximately 5" X 10" done in oil before my tremor severe enough for me to have Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. I will admit I loved being outside but even then Plein Air painting was not my cup of tea so to speak. I found working to get just the atmosphere in my paintings I had to work at a faster pace than I was comfortable with, so therefore my days of Plein Air painting were short lived. I do however admire artists that are able to work in that venue.

I believe that all artists must push themselves outside their comfort zones occasionally in order to grow otherwise we artists will become stagnant in our work. I never will forget a workshop I attended as an assistant for an after school art program that Tyler Museum of Art was starting at a local day school. I was finally able to "get out of my box" with the project we were assigned and I was so excited! Even the leader of our group was excited because when I tell you that I was a "color inside the lines" person I mean just that, I "colored inside the lines"!
