Letting Go

Since another birthday has come and gone this year and New Year's is just around the corner I know that my time of letting go of my artwork is the right thing to do. So here is another painting of my adventure with "the girls" on Martha's Vineyard. This is the second in the series.

Let me tell you a little about our small group of ladies that would spend a week in Martha's Vineyard soaking up the sunshine, eating fresh vegetables from the market daily and having fresh lobster picked to each of one's specification. We were from all over the United States; one was Florida, one from California, one from North Carolina, one from New York and myself from Texas. What a fun group! You an only imagine how much the ladies teased me about my southern drawl!

The Epiphany

It was one day in October while sitting reading a magazine article I saw a picture of a woman in a pasture holding a large quanity of bright colored ballons and it came to me that life is about letting go. Letting go of our need to control, our need to hold on to material "things" so with that thought in mind I came to the conclusion it was time to "let go" of some of my artwork sitting in my closet.

This is work I have accumulated over a period of time working in different mediums, plein air and different subject matter. Some of it was put away "just because" some because it held special memories but memories are there in the back of your mind even without "things" to see and touch. So here goes my public debut.

My first artwork will be a series referencing my visit to Martha’s Vineyard with some of my dearest friends. We had a wonderful time together solving the world’s problem!
